An except from 'Wanderings of A Dervish: Mystical Explorations in Sufism':
'Want to be a dervish? Train to access wisdom through connection with meaning – that which gives your life purpose; and then don’t prescribe or allow yourself to be told what to do, feel or be. Be in the moment; decide at each moment. When you find the map to the purpose of your life, follow it. Everything else exists to support that. All the outer paraphernalia are to support you, not the other way around. Sometimes there is conflict; other times not. So be it. Be practical if practicality is a tool that allows you to find and follow your purpose. But watch the 'deals' you make. Beware the 'compromises.' These are slippery slopes to being a 'good person,' initially in the guise of harmony and beauty. Real harmony is being inclusive, accepting and welcoming first to all parts of yourself, then of the nature and purpose of others. Beauty is witnessing the fruit of this harmony.'
